Last Saturday, on one of the most beautiful spring days in April, I enjoyed the afternoon with friends at the Swine and Brine Festival at Ardent Craft Ales. I have to say hands down it was one of the best festivals I’ve been to in Richmond! There were several of the top restaurants in RVA serving up every pork dish imaginable, as well as raw and fried oysters. Rappahannock Restaurant, Sabai, ZZQ, The Roosevelt, Saison, Amuse, and Northern Neck Oysters were all in attendance, along with Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches for dessert! Ardent craft beer was flowing from the beer truck and tap room, and there was even Blue Bee Cider and prosecco available. I love bubbly so this was a personal highlight.
It seemed crowded when we first arrived, but the ticket system they setup for food and beverages helped streamline the process and there weren’t any lines longer than five minutes. Plenty of picnic tables were available for festival goers to chill out on, as well as tall standing tables in the beer garden. This meant no need to balance your beer while trying to take a bite of food; we all know what a disaster that can be.
All in all it was a wonderfully organized festival and a perfect way to spend an afternoon! Can’t wait until next year’s event!
